Student Opportunities

Research Assistantships (RA) are available in the Department of Marine Science at University of Southern Mississippi (USM) for prospective graduate students interested in pursuing a Ph.D. or Master degree in Marine Sciences or Geochemistry with an emphasis on research related to biogeochemistry, aquatic colloids, trace element scavenging (using Th and Pa isotopes as tracers), and organic carbon cycling. We are also looking for undergraduate student technicians with chemistry or science background to work (20 hrs/week) on research projects and laboratory techniques. There will be opportunities for students to participate in research cruises (see photosfrom our previous research cruises) and field sampling trips.
